About
Valerie A. Howard...

So, you want to know a little bit about me?  Well, I was born December 4, 1971 to a wonderful supportive mother, Michele Bowen.  She encouraged me constantly and consistently and instilled in me the belief that I could be and do anything I set my mind to.  She stressed education and creativity, enrolling me in the best schools or the best programs in the so-so ones.  I attribute everything I've ever learned to her interest in me as a child.

I have been writing as long as I can remember.  I used to write short stories, plays and poems all the time.  Somewhere along the way, I lost my love for it all.  It was probably about the time I discovered that I was "cute" and headed out to the land of me, me, me.  But God...

After many storms in my life and a failed marriage, my best friend encouraged me to go to church.  I heard a dynamic preacher, Pastor Corey B. Brooks, and gave my life to the Lord.  I have not looked back.  Immediately, He brought to my remembrance my love for the written word and I was back on track.  This time, though, everything I write is for His glory. Thank You Jesus!

God has blessed me with a wonderful husband, Reverend Brian K. Howard, who is truly my soul mate.  We complement each other in every way.  Thank God for second chances.  We have 5 children between the two of us; Brandon, 20, Briyona, 14, Braelyn, 13,  Brea, 5,  and Brooke, 3.  (No comments!)

Right now I am working on novel # 2, entitled "After Bobby", which is about a family's struggle to recover after the tragic death of the title character, and continuing to serve the ministry.  Continue to pray for me (or start if you haven't yet!)  I have finally decided to self-publish.  I have shopped "Sassy" for 2 years with no success to the agents that I wanted to represent me. They were very encouraging but unwilling to take me on at this time. Now, I feel led to go this route.  I believe God is going to do a mighty work through me and "Sassy" may be the vehicle He uses to open that door.  God bless you all.  Check out the rest of my website.
