Hello Book lovers!!!
The weekend in Oakbrook was wonderful. What a great experience. The UMI conference did not draw as many people as it has in the past. However, there were some dynamic people and dynamic preachers there. Dr. Lance Watson...awesome! Sometimes, the simplicity of a message can lightly veil a much deeper meaning.
We were able to share a decent amount of books with the attendees and even some of the vendors. In addition to that, I was blessed to make many connections during this wonderful networking opportunity.
Sassy is now available in her first physical book store, Living Word Book Store. It is located at 937 E. Sibley Blvd. in Dolton, IL. The book is featured prominently in front of the check out area. Hmmm, I should've taken a photograph. I didn't take any photos in Oakbrook, either. I always forget the camera. I must do better!
Sassy and I will be featured in an upcoming issue of a great, new Christian magazine. I also will be a contributing writer. Stay tuned for more information on that.
I've also made a connection with an enterprising young man who has offered to assist me with my distribution issues. Unfortunately, I just missed a huge conference in Virginia, but God has big things in store for me. So, I'm not worried. All in His time.
This week, I began writing for an online book review website, Reader Views (www.readerviews.com). I have already sent in my first review and the editor loved it. So, I'm building my resume. (Insert big smile here).
I'm still having a ball with my fledgling writing career. I want to do this and I'm good at it (not to toot my own horn, but, if I don't, who will?), and I know this is what God told me to do. One of the many things, anyway. I won't say there aren't times when I get discouraged, but, God is faithful. He hasn't failed me yet. Everytime I start to falter, He shows me that this is definitely all about Him and not about me. He's great like that.
This Saturday, October 11, 2008, I will participate in an author's event at Woodson Library at 9525 S. Halsted in Chicago. We'll do a panel discussion from 9:30am to 10:30am and a book signing from 10:30am to 11:30am. I think it'll be fun.
Finally, there is a Sassy book club event in the planning stages for next month at West Point M. B. Church. Home Sweet Home.
